Les nominations pour le 71e édition des Golden Globes sont sorties ce matin. Les films attendus y sont présent, laissant tout de même la place à quelques surprises.
Notre chauvinisme est à demi satisfait, Dallas Buyer Club, réalisé par le québécois Jean-Marc Vallée, ne retient l’attention de l’Hollywood Foreign Press Association qu’à deux reprises: Meilleur Acteur pour Matthew McConaughey et Meilleur Acteur dans un rôle de soutien pour Jared Leto. Le film avait sincèrement charmé notre rédaction, on espérait qu’il puisse décrocher des nominations dans la catégories du scénario, du réalisateur et du meilleur film dramatique (surtout lorsqu’on connait le budget avec lequel a du composer le réalisateur québécois). Prisoners, également réalisé pour un québécois, Denis Villeneuve, avait été encensé par la presse lors de sa sortie cet été, mais peut-être à cause de sa sortie trop hâtive dans la saison des prix, il ne retient l’attention dans aucune catégorie.
Parmi les belles surprises, June Squibb, qui avait complètement charmé notre collaborateur Benoit, se voit mise en nomination dans la catégorie de la Meilleure Actrice dans un rôle de soutien pour Nebraska. Avec le décès prématuré de l’acteur James Gandolfini, il est étonnant de ne pas le voir mis en nomination pour son rôle dans Enough Said, la meilleur comédie romantique de l’année, alors que la Screen Actors Guild Awards l’a retenu dans la catégorie du Meilleur Acteur dans un rôle de soutien. Cependant l’Hollywood Foreign Press Association a retenu la performance de Julia Louis-Dreyfus, sa co-vedette, dans la catégorie de la Meilleure Actrice dans une Comédie. Louis-Dreyfus est également en nomination pour la meilleure actrice dans un télé-série humoristique pour l’excellent Veep diffusé sur HBO, rappelons qu’elle avait remporté le Emmy dans cette catégorie plus tôt à l’automne.
Parmi les surprises agréables, Greta Gerwig (Frances Ha) et Julie Delpy (Before Midnight) sont toutes deux mises en nomination dans la catégorie de la Meilleure Actrice dans une Comédie.
La vie d’Adèle, qui n’aura pas sa place aux Oscars dans la catégorie du meilleur film en langue étrangère (mais il reste une infime chance dans la catégorie meilleur film), parce que la France a décidé d’y présenter Renoir, reçoit une nomination dans cette catégorie, tout comme le film de l’iranien Asghar Farhadi Le Passé (et financé par une production franco-italienne), le film italien La grande bellezza de Paolo Sorrentino, le film danois La Chasse de Thomas Vinterberg et le nouveau film d’animation du studio Ghibli, The Wind Rises réalisé par Hayao Miyazaki, rappelons que cet été, le célèbre réalisateur japonais à annoncé que The Wind Rises serait son dernier film, il prend définitivement sa retraite.
Le Cecil B. DeMille Award, prix hommage de la cérémonie, sera remis à Woody Allen, qui voit son nouveau film, l’excellent Blue Jasmine écarté de la principale catégorie ne trouvant refuge que dans la catégorie de la Meilleure Actrice dans un film Dramatique (Cate Blanchett) et Meilleure Actrice dans un rôle de soutien (Sally Hawkins).
Les (bonnes) surprises viennent de la nomination de l’acteur allemand, Daniel Brühl, impérial dans Rush et de certains (moyens) films écartés : The Butler & Saving Mr Banks.
A noter Martin Scorsese qui se fait snober autant que Denis Villeneuve et Jean-Marc Vallée.
La cérémonie se tiendra le 12 janvier prochain et tient habituellement le baromètre pour les Oscars.
